Despite facing significant challenges due to U.S. sanctions, Huawei has managed to keep innovating.
For instance, Apple was expected to introduce a feature in the Apple Watch Series 10 that would track users’ blood pressure and alert them if it became too high, a serious condition known as “hypertension” that can lead to heart issues and more.
However, the Apple Watch Series 10 did not include this feature, and reports in July indicated that the delay was related to the larger screen and case design of the new models.
While the Apple Watch was never intended to provide real-time blood pressure readings—an intricate feature planned for a future version—it would have been able to alert users if their blood pressure reached hypertensive levels.
Today, Huawei announced the global launch of the Watch D2, which offers ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM).
This technology allows the watch to measure blood pressure while the user is on the move, eliminating the need to stop and sit down for a reading.
Like its predecessor, the Huawei Watch D, the Watch D2 is equipped with an inflatable airbag to take blood pressure readings and is touted for its precision and accuracy.
The blood pressure readings can be taken around the clock, even while you sleep.
The results will show both the Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) and the Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBP), providing you with the top and bottom readings, respectively, of a standard blood pressure measurement. Additionally, the watch will display your pulse.

The Huawei Watch D2 is available in Black and Gold and features a 1.82-inch AMOLED Always-on Display with a resolution of 480 x 408. The display can achieve a peak brightness of 1500 nits.
The device has a battery life of up to six days between charges, although it lasts only one day when the Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) feature is active. The watch is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance and is compatible with phones running Android 8 and later, as well as iOS 13 and later.

The Huawei Watch D2 offers several enhanced health-related features, including an upgraded Electrocardiogram (ECG), pulse wave arrhythmia analysis, heart rate monitoring, and SpO2 (blood oxygen) readings—this last feature is notably absent in the Series 10 models in the U.S. due to a patent dispute between Apple and Masimo.
Additionally, the watch tracks skin temperatures and provides a Health Glance report that summarizes nine key health indicators, helping users understand their body’s signals.
In Europe, the pricing for the Huawei Watch D2 remains unchanged from its predecessor at €399, roughly equivalent to $444. Customers who purchase the device before October 22nd will receive a complimentary pair of Huawei FreeBuds 5i.
