Apple’s ‘Glowtime’ May Hint at More Than Intelligence

After months of speculation and rumors, including a fabricated invite for an Apple Event, the launch of the iPhone 16 is nearly here. When Apple announced the name of its upcoming event—Glowtime—rumors began circulating once more.

We now have additional insights from a reliable source: Bloomberg’s Apple expert, Mark Gurman. So, what is likely to be a significant highlight at Glowtime? Apple Intelligence. Not only is it the latest initiative from Apple, but the Glowtime logo also closely resembles the color scheme of Apple Intelligence’s promotional materials.

Additionally, it bears some resemblance to the new AI interface Apple is developing. Moreover, for many consumers, AI may be the primary reason to purchase an iPhone 16, making it a likely focal point during the event. The iPhone 16 offers only minor improvements over the iPhone 15, with no significant performance enhancements to generate excitement.

In fact, the EU will receive an almost entirely different model, which is why I refer to this as the most fragmented iPhone launch in history. iPhone users in the EU will have access to features unavailable in other regions, but they will not be receiving Apple Intelligence.

A second clue about what to anticipate, however, seemingly resides in the name. As reported by Gurman, “Glow” is the codename for the forthcoming macOS Sequoia.

This means we may hear about it alongside the iPhone 16 and its array of AI tools. When macOS Sequoia is released, it will almost certainly power the new M4 Mac mini. While details are still limited, reports suggest that the M4 Mac mini will prioritize functionality over aesthetics.

Additionally, Sequoia isn’t the only operating system update to expect from Apple this year. We’re also set to receive iOS 18 soon, which will introduce Apple Intelligence to the general public. However, it remains uncertain whether the iPhone 16 can establish itself as one of the best smartphones available today, especially given the significant differences in the EU market.
